Remote work is a lifesaver but also the worst thing ever
So I've been working from home for 2 years now and yeah the commute is gone which rocks. But my kids think I'm available all day. My 5 year old knocked on my office door 47 times yesterday while I was on a video call. My wife is at her job so I can't just hand him off. I love that I see my kids more but I'm getting crushed on productivity. Boss is starting to notice. Anyone else struggling with this balance?
The double-edged sword is real. No commute saves time but suddenly your office is 20 feet from where your kids can see you through the door. I've had to set hard boundaries about not being available during work hours even though I'm home.
