Remote work is great until the kids find out you're home

Been working from home for 2 years and my kids still don't understand that just because I'm here doesn't mean I can play with them all day. My 6yo knocked on my office door 47 times yesterday during a client call. I love being around them but the constant interruptions are killing my productivity. The company is talking about making us go back 3 days a week and honestly part of me wants that just for some peace. Am I a bad dad for thinking that?

This is tough man. I do the every-other-weekend thing and I'd kill to have more time with my kids during the week, but I get that you need uninterrupted work time too. Maybe let them know what you're doing when you're working? My kids feel more included that way.

Man, I feel this in my soul. My 6 year old thinks the home office door being closed is just a suggestion. I've had to literally schedule "dad time" blocks on my calendar and show them when I'm available. It helps a little, but yeah, the struggle is real.

The hardest part of remote work honestly. I set up a visual timer so my kids can see when work time ends and we can actually hang out. Not perfect but it's helped them understand the boundary better.
