Remote work killing my productivity and family time

So I've been working from home for 2 years now and honestly it's gotten worse not better. My kids think my office door being closed means nothing so I'm constantly interrupted. But then I feel guilty about telling them to leave me alone so I end up working till 9pm just to catch up. My wife is frustrated because she thinks I'm available all day but I'm actually busier than when I commuted. Anyone else struggling with this? Thinking about going back to the office 2 days a week just to get a break.

Man, I feel this hard with four boys in the house. We finally had to set up specific "office hours" where the kids knew Dad was locked in, and my wife was the gatekeeper. Took a few weeks but it actually worked.

The closed door thing never works here either. I started going to the office a couple days a week just to get real work done, then the family time at home actually feels more present. Might be worth trying part-time in-office?

Four kids and I've learned the hard way that you can't have both at the same time in the same space. Have you thought about setting actual boundaries with your kids about knock times, or is that already been a battle?
