Remote work killing my work-life balance
So I've been working from home for 2 years now and I thought it would be great. No commute, more time with the kids, right? Wrong. Now I'm answering emails at 9pm and my kids think I'm always available because I'm physically here. My wife is frustrated because I'm 'home' but not really home. Anyone else struggling with this? How do you actually shut it down at the end of the day when your office is literally 20 feet away?
I feel this in my soul. The 'home office' sounded perfect until I realized I'm never actually OFF the clock. Kids need something right when I'm on an important call, and work needs something when I'm trying to be present.
