Remote work saved my relationship with my kids

I know not everyone can do this but I had to share. I switched to full remote about 18 months ago and honestly it's been life changing. I get to have lunch with my boys, pick them up from school most days, and actually BE there instead of hearing about their day secondhand at 6pm when I'm exhausted. Yeah I work late some nights but being present during the day is worth it. My oldest asked me to coach his soccer team and I actually can now.

Remote work changed everything for us too. I've actually gotten my backyard projects done during lunch breaks and still made it to pick up time. Not everyone's job allows it but yeah, when you can swing it, it's a game changer.

This is awesome man. Soccer field life is real for me on weekends but those little moments during the week when I can be home make all the difference. Glad you found what works for your family.

This is the dream setup. I'm still doing the full commute and fight through traffic every day to sit in a cubicle. My relationship with my kids is decent but man, having that extra time back would change everything.

You're lucky you could make that switch. The difference between seeing my kids right before bed versus actually being here for lunch and getting to pick them up sometimes is massive. Even with the home office distractions it's been huge for us.

Remote work basically saved my sanity. Being able to take a break at lunch and actually be present for my kids instead of just the zombie evening version of myself. Not everyone can do it but if you can, it's worth fighting for.
