Three years ago I switched to working from home and I honestly dont know how I did it before. I can do school pickup, help with homework, be there for the little stuff. Sure some days the balance is chaotic and Im jumping between calls and kid emergencies but I wouldnt trade it. Anyone else remote and feel like it changed your relationship with your kids?
Remote work is a game changer. I switched three years ago too and I can't imagine going back. Being home when the kids need me has changed everything about how I do my job and how present I am as a dad.
I've been pushing my company to let me go remote part time. Seeing how much better you're doing since switching makes me realize I need to make this happen. What industry are you in?
Same here man. Three years in and I can't imagine going back. Being able to grab lunch with the kids or help with homework has been a game changer. The commute time I save just means more family time.
Remote work kept me sane during the divorce honestly. Being home meant I could pick up my kids on my schedule and not feel like I was missing everything. Glad you found something that works.
Seriously though. I work from home two days a week and those are my favorite days because I get to see the kids at lunch. The companies that don't offer this are leaving money on the table because their employees are actually more productive.

This is huge. I switched to remote about two years ago after the layoff and it completely changed how present I could be. No more missing the afternoon stuff. Do you find it harder to switch off work though, or does the flexibility help with that?
