Remote work with a 3yo is killing me

So I've been working from home for 8 months now and my daughter is 3. My wife goes back to work next month and we're gonna try keeping her home with me 3 days a week to save on daycare costs.

Honestly? I'm terrified. I can barely get through a Zoom call without her screaming in the background. Yesterday she knocked over a full cup of coffee right before I had to present to our VP. How are you guys actually doing this? Is there some secret to keeping them occupied while actually working?

What time does your wife go back? Maybe you can negotiate some quiet hours in the morning before she leaves so you actually get uninterrupted work time.

The three year old barrier is real. They're old enough to need constant engagement but too young to entertain themselves. I tried the 'educational videos' route and felt like a monster.

Have you thought about part-time daycare even just 2-3 days a week? I resisted it for months but realized paying for 10 hours a week was worth my sanity and ability to do my job.

The guilt you feel about needing help is the worst part. Just remember that you being able to focus and not lose your mind is better for everyone including your daughter.
