Sick days are becoming dad days and I'm okay with it

Took a sick day yesterday because my 6 year old had a stomach bug and needed someone home. Boss was cool with it but I got some work emails asking for updates. My old self would have answered them all but I just let them wait. Watched movies with my son instead. Not feeling guilty about it anymore.

Stomach bug watch days are brutal but honestly there's nothing more important than being there when they need you. Sounds like you handled it the right way.

That's real parenting right there. Your kid needed you more than the office needed emails that day, your boss gets it and that's what matters.

Sick days spent with the kids are the ones that actually matter. Good on your boss for being cool with it, and I hope your 6 year old bounced back quick.
