Side hustle update: finally making real money
Posted about this a few months ago when I was just starting. Been doing freelance UX consulting on nights/weekends alongside my full-time job.
Just hit $1,200 last month. It's not crazy but it's actual additional income. Plan is to eventually get to 3-4 clients and maybe negotiate a 4-day week at my main job.
Taking it slow because I don't want to burn out and miss my kids growing up. But for anyone thinking about it—it's possible to start small and build. No need to go all-in immediately.
$1,200 is actually solid for nights and weekends. That's real money, not just 'hey I made twelve bucks' energy. How are you not burning out juggling full-time + freelance?
Genuine question - are you finding time for your family while doing this or is your free time basically gone? I've been thinking about freelancing but I'm worried about becoming that dad who's always working
