Stress levels through the roof trying to work with sick kids at home

Wife has to travel for work sometimes and when the kids get sick during those weeks I lose it. Can't take off work but can't focus because I'm worried about them. Tried working with my 7 year old home with a fever once and just gave up after an hour. Feels like I have to choose between being a good employee and a good dad and there's no winning move. Just needed to vent I guess.

Man I feel this in my soul. When my ex travels and my two get the sniffles, I'm somehow supposed to hit deadlines AND be nurse/parent/entertainer. The guilt of not being fully present at either job is real. Have you tried blocking off your calendar those weeks and being honest with your team that you're going solo?

The worst is when they're not quite sick enough to miss school but sick enough to need constant attention. No way to focus on anything.

This is exactly why I stopped accepting client calls before 9am when the kids are here. Give yourself some grace dude, you're doing two full time jobs at once.
