Struggling with remote work and 5 year old at home

My wife works full time too so we don't have childcare. We're trying to do remote work while she's home but it's chaos. She keeps interrupting my calls, asking for snacks, needs help with stuff. I get maybe 4 productive hours a day. My boss hasn't said anything yet but I know it's not sustainable. How do other guys do this? Do we need to find childcare or is there a better system?

Kindergarten can't come soon enough in these situations. We're in the thick of it too. The guilt of not giving work full attention AND not giving your kid full attention is the worst part.

I feel this in my soul. Both of us working from home with a young kid is basically impossible without help. Have you looked into even part-time care or a nanny share situation? I know that's another expense but the sanity might be worth it.

This is a tough spot. We did something similar for a while and it was rough. What helped us was creating really specific work blocks - like I work 7-9am before she's up, then handle the 5yo until noon. Made it more predictable. Worth trying to structure it?
