Taking a demotion and it might be the best thing ever

So I stepped back from a senior manager role to an individual contributor position at the same company. Less pay (about 15% cut), but way less stress and zero people managing. My director role meant I was in meetings until 6-7pm every night and thinking about team problems on weekends. My kids barely saw me in a functional state. Now? I clock out and I'm actually present. I'm coaching my 7-year-old's soccer team again. We read books together most nights. The money loss sucks but honestly, I don't miss the title even a little bit. Took me 4 years to admit I didn't want that promotion I fought so hard for.
