The 5:30pm witching hour is real and no one talks about it
Is it just my house or is 5:30-7pm an absolute shitshow? I get home from work, I'm tired, kids are tired, my wife is at her limit from daycare pickup and the whole day. Everyone's hungry and cranky. My 3-year-old melts down over nothing. My 6-year-old wants homework help RIGHT NOW. Dinner isn't ready yet. It's chaos. How do you actually manage this stretch? Do we need a better system or is this just parenting reality?
My wife calls it 'arsenic hour' (because everyone's acting poisonous lol). We now use it as a 'everyone just chill' period instead of fighting it. Kids get screens, we prep food without the chaos
