Took my full 12 weeks paternity leave and have zero regrets

A lot of guys at my company only took 2-3 weeks which I get financially but man, those 12 weeks with my newborn were incredible. Got to handle all the overnight shifts so my wife could sleep, learned how to change diapers without panicking, and bonded with my son in a way I might have missed if I went back early. Already told my boss I'm not doing weeknight travel for the rest of the year. Career will be fine. These moments won't.

12 weeks is the sweet spot. You actually get through the chaos, figure out your kid's personality a little, and bond in a way that taking 2-3 weeks doesn't allow. Totally worth it.

More companies need to push this. The guys taking only 2-3 weeks are probably burning out faster because they never actually got to be present early on. Those 12 weeks changes your whole relationship with your kid.

That's awesome you took the full time. Those early months go so fast and you got to really be present for it, not just squeezing in evenings. Your coworkers might realize what they missed once their kids are older.

No regrets is the right mindset. Those first weeks when you can actually be hands-on with feedings, diaper changes, all of it - that bonds you in a way nothing else does.

This is awesome. Those first three months are insane and most guys miss so much of it. You made the right call even if it costs money. You don't get that time back.
