Took paternity leave and didn't regret a single day

Just came back from 8 weeks off after my second son was born. I know not every guy gets that option but if your company offers it, take it. I learned how to change diapers, how to soothe a crying baby, and I actually got to bond with my newborn instead of my wife being the only one who knows all his routines. The work was still there when I got back. My kids won't be this small forever. That's all I'm saying.

Eight weeks is the dream. I got two weeks and it still changed everything about how I look at being a dad. Even that short window does something to you.

Absolutely, take the time if you can get it. I built a treehouse with my oldest last summer and honestly those kinds of moments with your kids early on are what stick with them.

This is huge. I only got 2 weeks when my first was born and I think about it all the time. Eight weeks to actually be present and learn your kid, that's the real deal right there.

This is so real. I didn't get much leave but those first few weeks home were when I actually bonded with my son instead of just being the night guy. Glad you got the full experience.

Eight weeks to be present for the chaos instead of hearing about it secondhand - that's special and you're right to acknowledge how lucky you are. Not enough dads get that option.
