Took Paternity Leave and Don't Regret It

Took 12 weeks off when my third kid was born. My boss basically made me feel like I was abandoning the team but whatever. That time with my newborn and my wife was priceless. I was there for all the midnight feedings, the first smile, everything. My job was still there when I got back obviously. The company didn't fall apart. Been back 8 months and honestly I think I'm a more patient dad and partner because I slowed down during that time. If you get the chance to take paternity leave DO IT. The career will still be there but your kids will never be that small again.

Your boss was wrong to make you feel that way. Those first weeks are irreplaceable and honestly you'll be sharper when you come back because you've actually rested your brain.

Twelve weeks is incredible. I took six weeks when my third came and even that felt like people were annoyed. How's the re-entry been with work? Did they hold your position solid?

Brave move and good on you. Those early weeks with a newborn are special and you can't get them back. Money and career moves happen every year but those moments? Once.
