Travel for work with a 1 and 4 year old at home

Just got back from a 3-day conference and I'm a wreck. Missed bedtime twice, my wife looked dead inside when I called to check in, and my 4yo asked why I don't love them as much as my job. He didn't say it like that, but that's what it felt like. I know travel is part of my role and we need my salary, but the guilt is crushing me. How do you guys make peace with this? Or do you just... not?
