Been working from home for 2 years now and it's still a struggle. My kids think that because I'm home I'm available to play at 2pm. Had to literally lock my office door today so my 6yo would stop coming in asking me to build lego towers. Boss doesn't understand why my video calls sound like a zoo. How do you guys actually get work done with kids around?
Two years in and still struggling is totally normal honestly. It's like they think there's no difference between you being there and you actually being available. Have you tried setting really specific times when you're not interruptible? That helped us a little bit anyway.
Setting boundaries is impossible when they can see you sitting right there. My boss doesn't get it, my kids don't get it, and most days I feel like I'm doing both jobs poorly. Some days I think going back to the office would actually be easier for my sanity.

The work from home parent struggle is real. They see you at your desk and think you're available for snacks, questions, and arbitration of toy disputes every five minutes. I've had to literally explain to my kids that daddy working from home doesn't mean daddy is free.
