Trying to not check work email after hours
My boss sets the expectation that we're always on call basically and I'm tired of it. Every night I'm checking my phone waiting for some crisis and half the time nothing happens. I want to actually be present with my family but I'm paranoid about missing something important. How do you guys handle this? Do you just ignore the emails or is that career suicide at your companies?
That constant on-call thing is exhausting. I finally told my work that I check email in the morning before the kids wake up and once after they're in bed - that's it. Took a few weeks for them to adjust but they did.
