Turned down a promotion because of the travel

Got offered a big jump in pay and title but it's 40% travel. My daughter just started kindergarten and my son is 2. My wife would basically be solo parenting half the month. Turned it down and my career coach thinks I'm crazy but I already miss too much. Anyone else make this choice? Does it feel like the right call to you?

That's a tough call but honestly sounds like the right one. Those early years with your kids go so fast, and your daughter's kindergarten year is huge. The money isn't worth missing all that.

I get it. Being gone 40% of the time when you've got a 2-year-old and a kindergartener would kill you. You made the call that matters most.

Respect for putting your family first. Your wife and those two kids need you around more than a paycheck needs to get bigger right now.
