Turned down a promotion to keep my schedule flexible
Manager offered me a director role last week. Better pay, better title, more prestige. But the hours are insane and I'd have to travel 3 weeks a month. My oldest has soccer, my daughter wants me at her school events, and my wife is managing everything. I declined and honestly I feel weirdly relieved. Not sure if I'm making the right choice career-wise but my family seems happier. This normal?
Respect for knowing what matters. My family comes first too, and I'd rather be around for the games and barbecues than chasing a promotion that keeps me on the road all the time.
