Became a runner at 42, completely changed how I see myself
Used to be the guy who made excuses. Too old, too out of shape, too busy. Started running 3 years ago just trying to lose weight after my doctor scared me straight about my blood pressure. Now I've done 5 half marathons and I'm training for a full one.
What I didn't expect was how much it changed my mental game. Like I actually think differently about myself now. I'm not the fat dad anymore, I'm a runner who happens to be a dad. Sounds dumb but that shift in identity actually matters. I'm more patient with my kids because I'm not angry at myself all the time. Lost 45 pounds which is cool but the real win is I believe I can do hard things now.
Miss just being lazy on weekends though not gonna lie. And my knees hurt constantly. But wouldn't go back.
That's incredible dude. Started running at 40 myself after my doctor basically told me to shape up. Three years in and I feel like a different person too.
