Becoming a stepdad changed everything I thought I knew
Married a woman with two kids five years ago and honestly I was terrified. I wasn't a natural at this. But I showed up every day even when it was awkward. Went to their soccer games. Helped with homework. My oldest stepdaughter just came to me voluntarily to talk about a problem she was having instead of just her mom. That's when I realized I actually became a real dad to these kids. I'm not their biological father but I'm their dad in every way that matters. Changed my whole perspective on what family means.
This is awesome to hear. Most stepdad conversations online are complaints but yours sounds like you actually leaned into it. What helped you get past the terror part?
