Came out as gay at 52
Spent 25 years in a marriage pretending to be someone I wasn't. Divorced 3 years ago and finally living authentically. My kids took it hard at first, especially my oldest son, but we're working through it. Do I regret the years? Sometimes. But I'm actually happy now for the first time in my life. I'm dating someone who makes me laugh. I don't wake up with that crushing anxiety anymore. My therapist says I'm grieving the life I thought I should have while celebrating the one I actually get to live now. That's about right.
That took real courage. 25 years is a long time to live a lie and then to actually make the break and be yourself at 52? That's inspiring man. How are your kids handling the whole situation?
