Career change from corporate to teaching

Spent 15 years climbing the ladder at a Fortune 500 company. Made good money, had the title, the corner office. But I was miserable and my kids barely knew me. Took a pay cut and got my teaching cert. Now I'm a high school history teacher and I'm actually excited to go to work. Sure I make half what I used to but I'm home by 3:30 and I actually see my family. I miss the money sometimes when bills come due but I don't miss the soul crushing meetings and the politics. Best decision I ever made was stepping off the treadmill.

15 years is a long time to walk away from. What was the breaking point where teaching felt worth the pay cut?

The title and money trap is real. Respect for actually getting out. My guess is you sleep better now even if the paycheck is smaller.

This is wild because I think about this every day. Stuck in corporate but the healthcare benefits for the kids keep me there. Curious how you made the leap without panicking about money.
