Spent 12 years grinding it out, making serious money, working 60+ hour weeks. Was the guy with the expensive car and the corner office. My oldest asked me one night why I wasn't at her school thing and I realized I couldn't even remember what event it was. That broke something in me. Took a job in finance that actually respects work-life balance and I took a 30% pay cut. The money hurt at first but my kids know who I am now. I miss the prestige sometimes and definitely miss the salary, but I don't miss the person I was becoming.
