Career changes after becoming a dad - is it worth it?

Took a job with less pay but way better hours so I could be home by 5:30. Before I was doing the corporate grind, leaving at 6am getting home at 7pm, weekends were for catching up on life stuff. Now I actually see my kids during the week. I miss the status thing a little bit, the money obviously, but I don't miss the stress keeping me up at night or missing my oldest's soccer games. The weird part is I feel more successful now even though I make less. Different definition I guess.

Less money but way better hours is absolutely worth it. Those homework battles every night are rough but at least I'm there for them instead of missing it all.

Totally worth it. I built a tire swing for twenty bucks and spend way more time with my kids because of decisions like yours. You can't put a price on being home by 5:30.

Making that switch to be home earlier is one of the best calls you can make as a dad. My kids are worth way more than whatever extra paycheck I'd be getting working late.
