Everyone thought I was insane. Six figures in tech, good benefits, and I just walked away to swing a hammer. Been doing it for three years now and honestly best decision I ever made. I missed creating things with my hands, not staring at screens all day dealing with angry emails. My back hurts more, I make way less money, and some days I'm exhausted in a way I never was before. But I actually like talking about my job now instead of just complaining about it. My kids think what I do is cool instead of boring. I miss the paycheck for sure and the stability was nice. But I gained actual fulfillment and I wake up wanting to go to work instead of dreading it.
