Dad of 3 kids under 5 - life is completely different now

3 years ago it was just me and my wife, sleeping past 10am on weekends, taking spontaneous trips, nice dinners out. Now we have 3 little ones (one set of twins surprise!) and I'm running on fumes. They're amazing and I love them like crazy but man I miss just sleeping. I miss my wife without her being completely exhausted and angry at me for something I don't understand. I miss talking about stuff besides logistics. They say it gets easier right?

Three under five is a different level of chaos. I've got four kids total and those early years with multiple little ones were intense. But man, wouldn't trade it now. It gets better.

The sleeping past 10am part gets me. I miss that so much. Coffee and kids at 6:30am is my new normal. But the spontaneous trips thing, we're learning you can still do that, just has to involve way more planning and snacks.

Dude yes. I remember those days of sleeping past 10am like it was a dream. Now I'm up at 6am whether I want to be or not. The spontaneous trips are the thing I miss most though.

This hit different for me as a weekend dad. When they're with their mom I get that old life back for a couple days, then they come back and it's all noise and energy again. Both sides have their thing.
