Finding out I was gonna be a dad changed my whole trajectory

Was headed down a bad path honestly. Partying too much, no real job, living with my parents at 26. Then my girlfriend told me she was pregnant and I had like a week to get my act together or lose my family before it even started. Got into trade school, got my HVAC license, got an apartment. My kid is 7 now and I've built an actual career, got married, bought a house. I'm not gonna act like it wasn't hard but that moment forced me to grow up in a way nothing else would have. Sometimes I think about alternate timeline me and it's not pretty. My daughter saved my life basically.

This is awesome man. Takes real courage to look at your life like that and make a change, especially when you've got a kid on the way. You're gonna be a great dad just for caring this much about turning things around.

Story like this is why I love this community. You didn't just complain about your situation, you actually changed it. Your kid is lucky to have a dad who stepped up like that.
