From Corporate Burnout to Stay At Home Dad - 2 Years Later
So I quit my job at a marketing firm back in 2022. Was making good money, hated every second of it, missed my kids growing up. My wife made enough that we could swing it if we cut back. Best decision I ever made honestly. I miss the adult interaction sometimes and yeah the paychecks were nice, but getting to coach my son's soccer team and actually being there when my daughter comes home from school? That's priceless. My identity isn't tied to a job title anymore which is weird but freeing. Lost the business cards and the excuse to get drinks after work. Gained like 10 pounds from staying home but my mental health is way better.
This is huge. Marketing firms will chew you up and spit you out. Two years in as a stay at home dad - is the money stress manageable or do you still have that voice in your head about the salary you walked away from?
