From Corporate Robot to Stay at Home Dad
Hit 15 years at the same tech company and just walked away last month. Wife makes good money so we decided I'd take the leap. Honestly I miss the paychecks and having an identity beyond 'dad' but I dont miss the 2 hour commute or the soul crushing meetings. My kids actually know who I am now instead of just seeing me on weekends half asleep. The hardest part is that I feel less accomplished even though managing 3 kids under 8 is basically impossible. Some days I want my old life back. Most days I dont.
That takes guts man, seriously. I've got two kids split between two homes and sometimes I wonder what it would be like to have more consistent time with them like this. Hope it's working out for you.
Only a month in so I'm sure you're still in that honeymoon phase, but this is genuinely cool to see. The corporate treadmill isn't for everyone and family time is worth something too.
