From Corporate Robot to Stay at Home Dad
Hit 15 years in finance and just walked away. People think I'm crazy but honestly best decision ever. Used to be gone 6am-8pm, missed my kids growing up. Now I'm doing school runs, packing lunches, actually know my kids' friends' names. Miss the paycheck and the identity honestly. There's something about being called "the finance guy" at parties that felt good. But coming home to my 5 year old yelling "daddy's here" hits different. The loss of income was brutal on my marriage at first but we figured it out. Now we're actually talking again instead of just coordinating schedules. Trade offs are real though, I miss having money for stupid hobbies and going out with the guys.
15 years is a long time to invest in something. Really curious what the moment was where you just decided it was done. The fact that you're happy now is what matters though.
