I spent 15 years in finance making decent money but missing everything. My kids knew my voice on FaceTime better than in person. Last year I took a job that pays less but lets me be home by 5:30. Best decision ever. Yeah I miss the status and the bonus checks, but man, being at my son's soccer games and actually knowing what my kids had for lunch? That hits different. Changed everything about who I am.
Respect for taking that on. Finance jobs eat you alive and I get why you had to step back. Building time with your kids matters more than any paycheck, and it sounds like you're figuring that out.
