From couch guy to marathon runner, 18 months
I was 280 pounds, worked a desk job, and hadn't run since high school. My doctor basically told me I was headed toward a heart attack if I didn't change something. Started running 2 miles a day, cut out a lot of junk, and just kept showing up. Ran my first 5k at 6 months, first half marathon at a year, and finished my first full marathon last month. I miss some of the lazy weekends but I don't miss how I felt before. My knees hurt now instead of my chest, so I'll take that trade.
From 280 to marathon runner in 18 months is insane. That's not just physical change, that's completely different life. What was the biggest hurdle?
