From couch potato to half marathon runner, still getting used to the new me
Two years ago I was 40 pounds overweight, barely able to chase my kids around the yard without getting winded. Started running just to lose weight but it became this whole thing. Did my first 5K last year and now I just finished a half marathon in 2 hours 15 minutes. The weird part is I don't recognize myself sometimes. I look in the mirror and see someone who actually takes care of himself. My marriage got better too, which I wasn't expecting. But I do miss the laziness honestly. Saturday mornings used to mean sleeping in and watching college football all day. Now I'm up at 5 AM for 10 mile runs. Miss you couch, but I think this version of me is better for my family.
That's awesome man, seriously. I got four kids so I know exactly what you mean about not being able to keep up with them. The fact that you stuck with it for two years is incredible, bet your kids notice the difference too.
