From couch potato to marathon dad
Five years ago I was 280 lbs, spending weekends gaming and eating delivery pizza. My kids didn't want to do anything with me because I couldn't keep up. One day my 7 year old asked if I could play soccer with him and I literally couldn't run for 2 minutes. That hit different. Started running, cut out the junk, hit the gym 4-5 days a week. Now I'm 185 lbs, ran my first marathon last month, and my kids actually want me to coach their teams. I miss the simple laziness sometimes, not gonna lie. But seeing my son's face when I beat him in a race? Worth every drop of sweat.
This is the kind of before and after that matters. Not the abs, but the fact that your kids think you're cool now. I went through something similar a few years back. The hardest part wasn't the fitness, it was unlearning all those pizza and gaming habits.
