From couch potato to running a 5K
Never thought I'd be the guy who runs. Used to spend weekends gaming and eating takeout. Had the talk with my doc about my weight and it scared me straight. Started with just walking around the block in January. Now it's September and I just finished my first 5K without stopping. My kids don't recognize me and I don't recognize myself either. Miss the zero responsibility of sitting around but honestly I don't miss how I felt physically. Energy levels are insane now.
Running a 5K is legit impressive. Takes discipline especially when you've got kids demanding your time. What was the hardest part, starting out or sticking with it?
This gives me hope. I've been sedentary for way too long and keep using the kids as an excuse. If you can go from gaming and takeout to running a 5K, maybe there's hope for me too.
