From couch potato to running a 5K - what actually changed?
Started at 245 pounds about 2 years ago. Couldnt walk up stairs without being winded. My kids would ask me to play with them and I'd just say later buddy. After my checkup scared me straight with high blood pressure numbers I decided something had to give. Been hitting the gym 4 times a week, doing meal prep on Sundays with the family, and last month I ran an actual 5K without stopping. The weird part? My kids now ask ME to go outside. And I have energy at the end of the day instead of collapsing.
I started running about a year ago and it genuinely changed my whole life. The consistency is key though. Sounds like you figured that out over those two years.
Walking up stairs without being winded is such a real win. I remember when that became easy for me again and it felt like superpowers. How are you maintaining it now that you've hit that milestone?
