From night shift warehouse guy to working from home dad
Been thinking about this a lot lately. 5 years ago I was doing nights at the distribution center, sleeping during the day, completely missing my kids' childhoods. Got a job offer for remote work that paid less but I couldn't pass it up. Now I'm here when they wake up, I make their lunches, I'm at soccer games. What I miss? Honestly, the independence and having MY time. The paycheck was better too. But seeing my 7 year old run up to me at 3pm when school lets out? Yeah, no amount of money beats that. Don't get me wrong, working from home has challenges, but I wouldn't go back.
This is the dream right here. I'm still doing the early mornings and late nights trying to balance everything, but hearing that it's possible to actually make this work gives me hope. What was the hardest part of the switch?
