From out of shape to actually taking care of myself
Five years ago I was pushing 280 pounds, pre diabetic, couldn't play with my kids without getting winded. I looked in the mirror and decided something had to change. Been hitting the gym consistently for the past 4 years, changed my diet, quit drinking soda. I'm down 60 pounds and feel like a new person. What's weird is the identity shift. I spent so long identifying as the fat guy or the unhealthy guy that now I don't know who I am. But it's a good problem to have. My kids see their dad as someone who takes care of himself and that matters to me.
Being able to actually play with your kids without huffing and puffing has to feel amazing. That's the best motivation right there, way better than any beach body goal.
