From solo road trips to backseat negotiations
Before kids I was that guy who would just gas up and drive 8 hours on a whim, stopping wherever looked interesting. Now a 20 minute drive to the park involves three snack requests, a diaper blowout, and explaining why we can't just turn around and go home because I forgot to download the Bluey episode they wanted. I miss the spontaneity like crazy but honestly the chaos has its own weird rhythm. Wouldn't trade it but man those quiet drives hit different.
The backseat negotiations are real. My oldest just learned to negotiate which route we take to soccer practice. He's 8 and already has opinions about everything. Spontaneous is basically dead for us now too but I wouldn't trade it.
