From solo tech guy to a family of four, everything changed

Five years ago I was the guy working 60 hour weeks, buying whatever I wanted, zero responsibilities. Then I met my now wife and suddenly we're having kids. I won't lie it's a completely different life. I miss the freedom and the spontaneity but honestly watching my daughter learn to read or my son score his first goal hits different. My priorities are completely flipped. The money and career success matter less. Anyone else make a huge life pivot like this?

This is the real plot twist nobody tells you about parenthood. You think you're losing something but you're actually gaining something that makes all that stuff look pretty empty in hindsight.

60 hour weeks and total freedom sounds amazing until it doesn't. I was in a similar place five years ago before my kid came. Now I can't even imagine going back to that life. The stuff you get to experience with them is wild.

Four kids between two households for me and the schedule is insane, but man those transitions when I'm stepping into dad mode? That's when I feel most alive. Everything else feels kind of small compared to that.
