Getting sober changed everything about who I am
3 years clean as of yesterday. I'm not the same person I was. Old me was angry, unreliable, my kids barely knew me. I missed my daughter's first day of kindergarten because I was hungover. Now I'm present, I show up, I remember things. I rebuilt my marriage. I get hugged by my kids now instead of them hiding from me. The identity shift was brutal but necessary. If anyone is struggling with addiction, I just want to say it gets better if you actually commit to change.
Three years is incredible, man. Seriously. The fact that your kids get the reliable version of you now? That's everything. Takes a lot of strength to turn it around like that.
