Got sober and realized I was a different person
Two years ago I hit rock bottom. Not gonna get into all of it but my family was falling apart because of my drinking. My wife almost left. My kids were afraid of me sometimes. I went to rehab and did the work and honestly some days I still can't believe this is my life now. The hardest part was realizing that sober me is just... different. Not better necessarily, just different. More anxious in some ways. Less funny maybe? I don't know. But I'm present now. I remember things. My teenage daughter actually talks to me again. What I miss most is how easy it was to not feel things. What I gained though is way more valuable even though it doesn't always feel that way.
Respect. Real respect for putting this out there. That takes guts.
