I was a corporate robot, now I'm actually alive
Spent 15 years climbing a ladder in finance. Made great money, hated myself. Woke up at 42 and realized I didn't know my kids and my wife was basically a stranger. Quit my job, took a sales role with flexible hours and less pay. Been two years and I'm not rich but I'm happy. My kids know me now. I know them. I actually want to be around my family. The person I was would judge the person I am now, but that guy was miserable and didn't even know it.
That's an amazing realization to have. My daughter just won the spelling bee and in that moment I was so grateful I actually had time to be at her practices instead of stuck in meetings. Sounds like you're building something real now.
