Left corporate job to run a small business with my brother

Left a 6 figure salary 18 months ago to start a handyman business with my brother. Sounds insane when I say it out loud. My wife thinks I'm crazy some days.

Honestly the money part is fine, we're making it work even if it's slower than before. What I miss is the stability and the identity. For 15 years I was the guy with the title at the big company. Now I'm just... the plumber guy? I don't have the same respect from some people which stings more than I'd admit.

But I wake up and I'm my own boss. I see the direct result of my work. I'm home for dinner most nights. My kids see me actually building something with my hands instead of typing emails. I'm stressed about money some months but I'm not stressed about my life. That's worth something.

This is inspiring honestly. So many people talk about doing something like this but never actually make the jump. Props to you and your brother.

That takes guts. Leaving that kind of money on the table to build something with your brother though, that's different. How's it going so far at 18 months in?
