I was a corporate drone making good money but barely saw my kids. Wife made more so it made sense financially. Been doing this for 18 months now. Best part? I know everything about my kids' days, I'm the homework helper, the one who takes them to soccer. Worst part? The identity crisis was REAL. I'm not gonna lie I felt weird not being "the breadwinner" for a while. Also the financial stress when unexpected stuff comes up hits harder when you're on one income. But seeing my oldest say "I want to be like dad who helps people" instead of just working all the time? That made it worth it.

Left the corporate grind myself a few years back and I get both the best and worst part of what you're saying. The reward is seeing your kids actually know you though, not just hearing about their week secondhand.

That's a legit life decision right there. The financial math might work but the emotional payoff of actually being there for them is something money can't buy. How are the kids adjusting?
