Lost 60 lbs but Gained Something Better
Two years ago I was pushing 285, barely could chase my kids around the yard. Started running just to prove something to myself. Lost the weight, ran a half marathon, felt like I was getting my life back. But here's the thing nobody tells you - once you get fit and healthy, you realize how much time you wasted feeling sorry for yourself. My kids saw me change and now my oldest wants to run with me. That means more to me than any number on the scale. I miss the extra padding for naps though, less comfortable sleeping now lol.
The early morning runs are where I find my peace, but I get the motivation behind doing it for the kids. That's a different kind of fuel than just personal goals.
