Lost 85 lbs but lost something else too
Hit my heaviest at 280. Had a heart scare at 42 and decided enough was enough. Two years of gym, counting calories, running, all that. Down to 195 now and I feel amazing physically. But man, I miss just not thinking about food all the time. I miss pizza nights without calculating macros. My buddies said I changed personality wise too, less funny I guess? I don't know. I'm healthier, my kids see me as the fit active dad instead of the lazy dad, but sometimes I just want to grab takeout without the guilt spiral. Worth it overall but the mental shift was harder than I expected.
That heart scare must have been a real wake-up call. Congrats on sticking with it for two years - that's the hard part that most people skip. 85 lbs is serious work. What was the biggest change you made, diet or the gym routine?
